How to find your dream wedding dress

Bridal is my thing. The magic when you find your dress is unparalleled. I had so much fun shooting this look book shoot for The Unbridled Studio. A Liverpool bridal designer specialising in contemporary multi functional pieces, many of which you can wear long after your day.

One of my favourite things about bridal fashion is how it makes you feel. A strapless satin ballgown with a corset bodice is a totally different feeling to playful tulle sleeves and an A-line skirt, which is different again to a silky sheath dress – and I always make sure your photos reflect that.

When I tell you the dress changes everything. For this lookbook shoot, we changed the hair, make up, vibe, and even the pose prompts to suit the style of the dress – and trust me when I say your experience will be the same.

1. Follow bridal accounts as soon as you get engaged

Create a saved folder on your phone, Instagram, or Pinterest to start collecting inspiration – and don’t overthink this part. If you like it, save it.

2. Analyse the common themes

After a few months, analyse the common themes to find your bridal style – whether it’s couture, modern, ethereal, boho, or princess. You might have some crossover in styles – and that’s OK! You won’t know which one is The One until you try them on…

3. Choose the right bridal shop

Start researching bridal shops that stock the designers or vibe you like the most. Many shops charge for appointments, so it’s best to have some idea of the designers you like before you start.

Find a bridal shop that really listens to your preferences and supports your decisions. Try on a variety of dresses, considering the drama and style that aligns with your venue. The dress changes everything!

4. Keep your company minimal

Going alone or with one or two close friends or family is best at your early appointments. Too many opinions can distract from how you feel about the dress. The energy in the room should only ever enhance your experience.

5. Ditch the expectations

Here’s the thing: you might not have a yes to the dress moment, you might not have an instant connection when you find the one, and the dress might not fit you flawlessly the first time. The truth is, none of those things matter, but how you feel does.

Finding your dream wedding dress can be overwhelming – but it doesn’t have to be. Start by researching dresses and designers that feel most aligned with you, then find a bridal shop that really listens to your style, requirements, and preferences.

Remember: going alone is a vibe. It’s not just how you look but how the dress makes you feel that really matters.

I can’t wait to share this journey with you!
