Since 2017
I have been in the wedding industry since 2017. Having spent a decade in education teaching languages before pivoting to wedding photography, my relaxed editorial style is inspired by years of immersing myself in different cultures and knowing what to say to help people relax.
The most important part of my job is getting to know you as a couple. By the time your wedding day comes, I will know all the details that mean the most – everything from the styling, florals, and tablescapes to your wedding party, immediate family, and closest friends.
The more I know about what and who you want to capture, the more you can focus on being in the moment. Being a wedding photographer is a huge privilege and responsibility – and after months of catch-ups, I love nothing more than capturing your vision as it unfolds.
My background
My background in languages has benefited my wedding photography in so many ways. Speaking French, Spanish, and Italian has helped me communicate with local suppliers at a number of destination weddings (not to be underestimated!) Like education, wedding photography requires intuition, empathy, and compassion, and the ability to read the room, adapt prompts to suit all personality types, and communicate in a way that brings the best out of people.
My photography style considers and is sensitive to everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, and sexuality. I never go into a wedding with a set list of poses – instead, I read your body language and make my prompts unique to you. Avoiding gender stereotypes – even with my prompts – allows you to take the lead depending on what you are comfortable with.
Get to know me
When I’m not shooting weddings, I’m running creative workshops for photographers or shooting high-concept editorials that wouldn’t be out of place in a magazine (my work has been in Vogue, Vanity Fair, and The Lane). Teaching is still a huge part of who I am – I never want to stop learning, improving, and passing my knowledge on to other photographers.
Both sides of the businesses feed into the other: getting creative in workshops and editorials only enhances the work I do for my couples – and vice versa. Outside of work, I am happiest when spending quality time with people I love, doing an activity like hiking or drag brunch, or travelling somewhere new. I am obsessed with bridal fashion and it’s my pipe dream to shoot at New York Bridal Fashion Week. I always have a camera in my bag, usually one from my vast analogue collection. I love shooting analogue film. It’s expensive, a labour of love, and can be temperamental – but therein lies its magic.
My coffee order is a Hazelnut Latte, I am in the top 1% listeners of Fred Again, and my favourite TV show is RuPaul’s Drag Race. I am the mum friend of my girl gang, always the one who checks in and provides support, and I love that this extends to my couples. I am always called the biggest hype girl, which makes me feel so proud. Nothing brings me more joy than helping people to feel like their best selves in front of the camera.
