Earlier this spring i was invited to be the official photographer for london fashion bridal week
This was a bucket list job for me ~ anyone who knows me knows how much I adore shooting bridal fashion. Wearing the right outfit is such an integral part of feeling like your best self on your day. What's more, each outfit has its own aura and vibe and you'll find your energy shift as you change from one to the next. For me as a photographer this is so good to lean in to. I love choosing different backdrops and using different prompts to encourage different energy from whoever I'm photographing.
highlights
the day started at the truman brewery where stockists from all over the uk explored the best of the industry's newest COLLECTIONS
The goal here was to get a mix of images: the vibe and the stalls. From a future business perspective, bridal week wanted to appeal to stockists showing how good stalls could look, but also to prospective guests to show how welcoming and productive the space feels. I documented each stall, focusing on bridal week's biggest clients.
As well as general content of each stall, I got to photograph backstage at various runways which I loved. Here are some of my favourite frames:
From a range perspective, I was there all day so had ample time to get more creative shots after I'd taken base images of each stall. This was my favourite part of the day. I got to chat to the designers behind the pieces and learn all about their approach ~ which I found so fascinating. It's so helpful for me to make these connections, expanding my network for when I am organising the Faye Wilde Workshops.
On finishing at the day event I headed over for the run through of the runway show ~ before documenting that. This was so fast-paced and I don't think I breathed too much at all during the show. So keen to not miss any of each look. As well as documenting the runway I also got sneak peeks of the changing rooms just before models headed down the runway. This was a team effort ~ I had been solo in the day time but in the evening - like so often - I had a team, helping me to be in multiple places at once. Dive into some of my favourite frames:
I loved working fashion week so much. Manifesting future projects in New York and Barcelona.
Thank you for being here,
