i love shooting details
... So shoots like this where I get to explore the materials and textures on lots of gowns from designers make my soul sing. I couldn't have asked for better energy from model Sainab who always kills it (if my supplier friends ever need a model she is an 11/10), and I'm still unable to pick a favourite from the thirteen (!) looks we shot.
From the designer: "Avalon is a collection of gowns that thread the subtle alchemy of rhythmic ocean musings and the feminine goddess within. Harmoniously drawn together with intricacy and texture, Avalon invites wonder and a soulful stillness into presence, that anchors in love and art. The curated edit of gowns symbolises new beginnings. Designed with a slow poetic pace, fabrics embrace a gentle hymn to movement and organic detail. A modern, yet serene aesthetic, defined by instinctive ethereal sensuality featuring lucid silks, gold brushed pleated tulles, diaphanous organza, sandwashed crepes and decadent encrusted laces. Relics of romance are handcrafted with whispering feathered accents, hand painted botanicals and sculptural beaded lace talisman adornments."
"Kahani is an Urdu word that literally translates as story, taking the thread from other cultures and weaving into our own, wearing pieces inspired by poetry with core values of humanity and sustainability. Sustainability is at the heart of all that I do, promoting slow fashion and an ethos of reusing, taking tales that have been tossed and giving them new life, applying the principles of Kintsugi , pouring in gold to find beauty in the broken. Each piece is completely unique, handmade from authentic and imperfect silk Indian saris. The fabrics are often traded in exchange for utensils in India. When they reach me, I treat each one with the respect and care it needs to become the treasure I have envisaged, reimagining the tale."
